Dear Steve2:
You are absolutely correct! I have no family that
are Jehovah's Witnesses and to break away from the
organization in comparison to those that have famil-
ies in the organization is ten times easier.
However, to get my best friend out of the organ-
ization took two very long, hard, trying years.
I am grateful that I have at least one friend out
of organization all things considered.
Respectfully,
Richard

IT IS EASIER TO LEAVE JWS IF NONE OF YOUR FAMILY ARE JWS
by steve2 inone of the biggest - if not the biggest barriers - to leaving the organization is family ties - particularly immediate family (i.e., those living in your household: sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, mother-in-laws, father-in-laws).
i know of no bigger barrier.
therefore, it's relatively easy to predict who will face the most adversity in trying to leave.

Dear Friends:
Thank you all for such fine commentary. In
particular you Terry because it me touched
a little more deeply.

A complete re-education program was necessary to erase what had been done to my mind."-Terry

The Time and Effort you gave as a JW is worthless
by JH inthis always bugged me.. no matter how much you did or spent for the watchtower, the moment you stop attending meetings and stop going out in the field service, it's as if you never did anything.
isn't it written someplace in the bible that god remembers your actions of the past?.
when i became inactive many years ago, i realized that all i did as a jw was down the drain because i stopped going to meetings and going out in the field service.. .

Dear SnakesInTheTower:
I could not help but to comment on your thread reply.
That was a response that put the whole Jehovah's Witness
life in proper perspective.
Fortunately, I started saving for retirement at the age
of 25 because I had some underlying fear that Armageddon
might not come about in my life time.
All of the other things about not finishing college on time
and not going on vacations all stand true in my life.
I could not express the embarrassment having to have gone to
class with students who could qualify as my son or daughter.

Did The Watchtower Society Give You Your Personality?
A good friend of mine on the discussion board had this conversation
with me a couple of times. After spending decades in the organization,
he mentioned that he needed to get to know himself.
Therefore, it raised a question in my mind about an individual’s personality.
My personality was established before becoming a Jehovah’s Witness so
the question is directed toward those raised in the organization.Did the Watchtower Society give you your personality?

Dear proplog2: It is sad but true. Somehow,
they are "insulted" or turned-off by the
simple closing of "respectfully."
Thankfully, I have been corrected by
members on this board regarding this
issue.
It is no longer an issue.
Respectfully,

Dear Gyles:
After having received some personal messages I
have reconsidered my perspective.
Individuals on this board have brought it to
my attention that the word or term "respectfully"
is acceptable to them as a finishing close.
I have concluded that they are 100% correct, because it
is done out of sincerity and goodwill. There
is no compromise in this area.
Thank you to all who have shared your thoughts
regarding this issue.
Respectfully,
Richard

Hello, Illyrian:
You have raised some good questions regarding this subject.
However, from my perspective there is no harm in researching,
investigating or exploring the subject matter.
Since, there have been reports or sightings for centuries as
you have made mention in your thread I think the subject is
well worth considering on that basis alone.
Thank you for your perspective on the matter.

Dear Gyles:
I did not mean to imply that you had treated
me with disrespect in this thread. I was just
trying to establish some friendly guidelines
for this and future discussions. Truthfully,
that is all.
The point about the use of the word
"respectfully" was well taken.

Can/Should someone be in love with more than one person?
by AK - Jeff innot a question that affects me personally - i am dutifully bound to a single woman now for 33 years [omg that is 1/3 of a century already].. but do you believe that it is possible or profitalble to fall in love with more than one person at the same time?
in western culture it is normally considered 'betrayal' to do such a thing - but thoughout history and in cultures outside of the west today - it is considered acceptable, even normal.. typically it is the man who has more love interests than just one - not the woman - but some cultures have supported multiple partners for women also.
this is not a thread about judging others - just an inquiry about opinion.

Dear Jeff:
I need more clarification regarding the use of
the word "profitable" written in your article.
However, back to the original question. Can
someone be in love with more than one person?
From my own experience, the answer is yes.
Why?
This can happen on a job or during work when
two people spend allot of time together in
that capacity.
What starts off as work relationship can
become a "working relationship ", through
commonalities, interests and more quality
time spent together than a person's spouse
or significant other.
Just my thoughts on the matter.
Your friend,
Richard -
